Bad Wildungen - Print version

Structure & municipal organisation

The spa and holiday resort has 17,500 inhabitants and covers an area of 120 square kilometres. The majority of the surrounding area is forested and agricultural activity is prevalent in more rural parts.

The town’s economy relies to a great extent on income from spa guests and tourism. At the same time, however, Bad Wildungen represents an up and coming medium-sized centre for the surrounding area.

Various general and vocational education services are provided in the town.

Constituent communities
Besides the main town (Bad Wildungen, Altwildungen, Reinhardshausen & Reitzenhagen), which bears the same name as the whole, the town of Bad Wildungen consists of ten villages, lying in the valley of the river Eder and in the Kellerwald.

Amalgamations
The neighbouring communities of

Alt-Wildungen,
Reitzenhagen and
Reinhardshausen

were amalgamated in 1940.

As part of municipal reform, the same was done in 1971 with

Albertshausen
Armsfeld
